Flight Training Courses

JAA PPL(H)
You will need a minimum of 45 hours to obtain your PPL(H) which will entitle you to fly with passengers, but not for hire or reward, in the UK and Mainland Europe.
You will also need to pass the seven PPL exams which are generally self study, however, we can offer a full time course of tuition to cover all these.

Co-pilots course
This is designed for passenger(s) to become a useful asset in the cockpit and to also feel part of the flight without going through the whole process of obtaining a full licence. It is ideal for partners and friends.

Foreign licence to JAA
Do you have a foreign PPL licence that you would like to convert to a JAA licence?
If so then we have a course specifically designed for you.
Alternatively you may just want experience of flying in the UK after returning from abroad. Our short course is designed to give you maximum exposure to the UK system.

Your ground exams and a thorough understanding of the entire syllabus will be easier to comprehend and successfully pass, with ‘one to one’ ground school instruction from our instructors.

Once you have achieved your PPL(H) you may want to join a group or even purchase your own helicopter. The trust that will have been developed during training will be of great benefit to both you and Vanguard Helicopters, in guiding you along the route to purchase the right aircraft for you.

You may be tempted to undertake flight training in the USA or elsewhere, where fuel costs make it possible to fly for a lower hourly rate. But do your figures carefully. Add travelling costs, time away and food and lodging. You will be flying in the UK on your return. Will your knowledge of UK map reading and radio procedures and the reality of flying in Europe, be really fully catered for from 4 weeks in the USA? Even if you are hour building for a Commercial professional career in aviation, at £200 plus VAT per hour, but, at home, you will find the economies are pretty well balanced.
